Medical Oncologist/Hematologist: Willmar, Minn.

Willmar Regional Cancer Center is seeking a Medical Oncologist/Hematologist. Hospital-based practice with very limited call. Willmar Regional Cancer Center (WRCC) is part of Willmar Medical Services, a joint venture of Rice Memorial Hospital and ACMC Health (both organizations have a strong presence in the regional market).

WRCC is affiliated with Virginia Piper Cancer Institute and is a Community Cancer Program accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and a participant in the Metro Minnesota Community Oncology Research Consortium (MMCORC), a non-profit research program sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. WRCC provides outreach services to several communities and enjoy exceptional support from primary care physicians who handle most acute and inpatient care.

Willmar Regional Cancer Center Oncology Group Dynamics

  • 2 Medical Oncologists and 1 Nurse Practioner
  • 1 Radiation Oncologist
  • Hospital based – joint venture between ACMC and Rice Memorial Hospital opened a state-of-the-art facility that is located on the hospital campus (2010).

Work Schedule (average)

  • 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday
  • 1/2 day off per week or 1 day off per pay period

Call Schedule

Minimal call from providers only to assist with oncology related issues when a patient is hospitalized.

Office Visits

10-14 patient visits per day with three potential new consults. Chemo schedule varies based on current active patients.

Inpatients

Average zero to two per day

Support

The care delivered at WRCC is through a Care coordination model.  All providers work with an RN Care Coordinator, who follows the patient throughout the course of their care.  Other members of the Treatment Team include LPN’s, Dietitian and Pharmacists.  There is also a Cancer Registry and two Research Nurses who work with the providers.
